NIGHTHAWKS: David McWilliams Live CD Release Performance Mid-Michigan's own jazz trumpeter, David McWilliams will debut original compositions from his new CD just released! McWilliams will be joined by: Rob Bickely on bass, Ryan Ptasnik on drums, Jonathan Beshay on saxophone and Ryan Goh on the piano. McWilliams grew up in Eaton Rapids and began his musical career at 10-years-old. His school's music instructors gave him the choice to playing the trumpet or baritone saxophone. When seeing the size of the baritone saxophone (and considering how difficult it would be to carry on the bus) he decisively chose the trumpet. In middle school, David discovered Count Basie and Miles Davis buried in his parents' CD collection. Since then, he's been keeping company with great music leaders and mentors such as; Kris Johnson, Diego Rivera, Rodney Whitaker, Etienne Charles, Derrick Gardner and the great brass pedagogue, Dave Sheetz. McWilliams is a recent graduate of Michigan State University and he plans to move East to continue his musical education. McWilliams will have his newly released CD for sale and refreshments will be available. Listen to a track on YouTube. All refreshment proceeds will be donated to the Jazz Alliance of Mid-Michigan. Advanced student tickets are $10/each ($12 at the door) |
