P2 Has Three Rentable Photographic Studios
Perspective2 has three rentable photographic studios available to the public. Each studio comes with it's own unique style and is generously equipped with 3 studio white lightning studio strobes, c-stands and your choice of white umbrellas or soft boxs. We also make available a full-length double sided reflector and a set of radio triggers for un-tethered shooting!
What is included with the my studio time?
- The Prop-Shop Studio: comes equipped with many ever changing props-- from victorian themes, hand painted backdrops, to an urban ally set. It is a plethora of texture and color combined natural lighting. The prop shop also comes with 9 ft. seamless white backdrop paper (sold by length used)
- Studio B: our large private, high key (white) studio with12 ft ceilings, hard wood floors and changing room/bathroom. It comes equipped with white and black 9 ft. seamless papers ready to use (sold by length used).
- Studio A: our largest studio is warm and inviting. It comes equipped with floor to ceiling black velvet drapes, maple hardwood floors, natural lighting, vintage chicago brick feature wall, contemporary kitchen and spacious changing room/bathroom. Please note: If you need seamless paper please request this in advance.
Photographic Rental Rates:
Rates listed here are for photographic and video use only, during normal studio hours. We recommend reserving 2 hours for each first time studio use to get acquainted with the equipment and space. For special event rates please refer to our events pricing.

Prop Shop Studio: $40 per hour and $20 per hour thereafter. A 50% non-refundable (non-transferable) deposit is required with a $20 minimum.
Studio B: $60 for the first hour and $30 per hour thereafter. A 50% non-refundable (non-transferable) deposit is required to hold your reservation with a $30 minimum.
Studio A: $120 for the first hour and $60 per hour thereafter A 50% non-refundable (non-transferable) deposit is required to hold your reservation with a $60 minimum.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a P2 studio member to use the studios?
No membership is needed. We are open to the public.
How do I reserve studio time?
Call Perspective2 at 517-853-5880 and ask for a photo specialist. The photo specialist will help you find available times to suit your shooting schedule. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your studio reservation.
I'm a first time studio shooter. Can I still use the studio?
No problem. We recommend you have a digital SLR camera with a hotshoe (able to attach a flash). Our photo staff can help you get acquainted with the studio lights and help with your initial set up. We offer classes and custom training too! (email Lynne for customized classes)
Do you rent lights or equipment for external studio use?
Yes, a standard light package that includes 2 lights, stands, 2 white umbrellas, carrying case and a set of radio triggers for un-tethered shooting rents for $65 per 24 hour day. We also have a Nikon D200 and Fuji S3 studio camera available with lens for rental. (email Lynne for details)
Can I get a refund on my deposit or "reuse it" for new studio time if I cancel?
No. The most common cancellation we've gotten in the past is “The client cancelled my shoot”. We recommend you charge your client up front for the studio reservation / time so if they cancel, they are responsible for the cost associated with the cancellation.
What if I go over my reserved studio time?
As long as there is no shooter booked behind you, we can accommodate extra time but please plan ahead so we can best serve you, your guests and others. Studio time is billed rounded up in 15 minute increments.
What if I want to reserve studio time outside normal hours?
Yes, we can assist you with special reservation hours for photo shoots. Staffing fees will be added at the rate of $25-$75 per hour depending on the time, date and shoot type and set up requested. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your studio reservation.
Consumables and extras
- Backdrop paper: The nine ft. seamless paper prices are $4 per foot for white paper and $4.50 per foot for black paper. There is a 3 ft minimum with all papers when used.
- Additional studio strobes may be rented for $15 per unit and include the standard lighting modifier and stand.
